Jeff's Philosophy:  I wish to preface my comments by stating that I am old.  I started reading comic books in the 1970's before professional grading services existed.  I then graduated to collecting and now I am enjoying the business of sharing the hobby with fellow fans.  All condition grades are ultimately in the eye of the grader.  I am not a professional grader but I am also not new to comic books and have examined tens of thousands of comic books of all ages and all conditions.    Until a comic book has value in excess of $50 it is hard to justify professional grading service.  Plus once it is slabbed it's entombed in plastic for all time.  After all, should you desire I hope you read and enjoy the comic book and treasure it as part of your journey collecting comic books.  For efficiency sake and to keep more common books with lower value affordable, I typically assign either low 1.8 to 4.5 grade (I don't plan on reselling anything that is Poor condition) , mid 5.0 to 6.5 grade or high grade 7.0 or higher grade.  I spend more time examining and assigning a  grade within a half point to more expensive comics using principles laid out for decades in the Overstreet Grading Guides.  I don't intentionally grade low or high.  Another person or even at another sitting I may grade higher than the assigned grade.  It may grade lower.  I aim to be within a full grade at worse and spot on at best.  Above 9.0 is not common, a new concept to me and I often hesitate to assign a grade above 9.0.  I also don't immediately go to 6.0 due to age of the comic book.  Older print stock, printing machines and bindery processes often lead to conditions that are higher grade for a comic book of that era.  If I am higher than you, I apologize.  Knock on wood, so far I have not had a disagreement or issue occur in the process of exchanging a comic book yet.   I appreciate you as a fellow collector and I do buy and trade as well so make my contact if you like.  Please reach out to me if you truly have an issue and I will do my best to accomodate the situation.  I am human and mistakes do occur.  If the comic book is damaged in transit, again knock on wood it hasn't happened, I can pursue a shipping insurance claim and if it comes through I will of course reimburse you.  Please look at the photos and read my notes. If you are in doubt of being happy with the purchase do not buy.  I try to document the issues I note so that you can also note them and ultimately decide for yourself. Happy collecting, Jeff Owens, Magnitude 10 Comics.
